About manual association
This article describes how manual association works in Gong's new smart activity association mechanism.
By default, Gong uses an algorithm to automatically associate conversations (email, call, SMS, and so on) to deals in an account. However, there may be a need to override the mechanism and manually associate an activity to a particular deal on some occasions.
When you manually associate an activity to a deal, you override all current and future associations on the activity. This means that Gong won't change the association when new information comes in, such as a new contact role, new opportunity, and so on.
All activities can be associated in activity timelines (found in the account page, the Deals Pipeline tab, and more), and calls can also be associated in call pages.
As well as appearing in activity timelines where they can be manually associated as described above, you can also perform this action from the call page. This way gives you the option of associating/removing a call with multiple accounts and/or deals.
